Windows 8 Leaked Features

Windows 8 will be the next Microsoft operating system which will be the Windows 7 successor. Microsoft dose not have a proper solution for tablet PCs and to support ARM processors. On top of that they badly require to improve the performance and security of Windows OS. Lets have a quick look at new features that may come with Windows 8 base on the Pre Windows 8 build leaks.

Hybrid boot feature uses advanced hibernation functionality when the computer is shut down and allows the machine to start up faster next time.

In early stage of leaked Windows 8 build reveals that Microsoft is applying some hacks to make the Windows 8 booting time faster than Windows 7. Hybrid boot will reduce the start-up time after shutting down the computer. In this built they have given the option to switch between Hybrid Boot and classic shutdown. However, hybrid boot is recommend by Microsoft. It will be quite handy in netbooks and tablets which requires a faster boot up.

Another new feature is the ability to create a Portable Workspace, an installation of Windows 8 on a USB storage device. It will allow you to take your Windows 8 OS in your pocket and plug and play it in any computer. This is quite useful feature specially for people who are on the move and worried about security as well.

Ribbon interface for Windows Explorer is another change Microsoft has done with Windows 8, comparing to Windows 7. Introducing the famous ribbon interface for Windows file explorer. It will makes it touch friendly as well and easy to navigate through the file options.

A in build PDF reader called Modern Reader, is included in the early leaks of Windows 8. Adobe PDF reader been the standard PDF reader, it takes lot of the machine resources. Windows 8 provides a solution by introducing a native PDF reader.

An updated task manager called Modern Task Manager, gives a clear and informative view of the running processors and how the machine resources are allocated. This is something that did not changed or update over the time.


If you use ISO images this will be a good news for you. Early Windows 8 has a Native ISO mounting program. So, you will not require to go for third party ISO mounting softwares.


The Windows 7 Basic theme has been replaced with a new theme,where the boxes that encase the "close, maximize, and minimize" buttons have been removed.

Windows App Store to review and buy applications online will be another major addition to next Windows operating system. Similar to Apple app store Windows will have their own app store.

Setting automatically adjusting the window color to fit the wallpaper is another fancy feature you might notice. Also, they have changed the loading screen, new log in screen.

It also includes a stripped down "Immersive" version of Internet Explorer, similar to the mobile version of Internet Explorer, but using the desktop Trident rendering engine. This is a area where Microsoft need to fight back to build the confidence of internet users by giving a proper solution with Internet Explorer.

There are rumors that Windows 8 may released Community technology (CTP) build at the Microsoft Worldwide Partner Conference 2011. Then it is planning to release the first Beta in September and hopefully it will release it in April 2012.
